Thursday, January 9:

6:30 - 9:30 p.m.: Opening Reception and Dinner, The Gallery

It is important for all participants to attend the opening dinner and to plan to attend all workshop meals. Many of the participants have not met one another and the social events help "break the ice" and facilitate workshop discussions.


Friday, January 10:

8:45 --10:30 a.m.: Bayes nets for causal knowledge discovery
           8:45 -- 9:15 a.m.: Chris Meek (formal theory and algorithms)
           9:15 -- 9:40 a.m.: Alex Hartemink (causal learning in genetic networks)
           9:40 --10:05 a.m.: Alison Gopnik (causal learning in humans)
         10:05 --10:30 a.m.: Patrick Doreian (causal learning in social networks)

10:30--10:50 a.m.: Break

10:50--12:00 a.m.: Discussion of causal learning problems and applications

Much of the focus of this discussion session will be to figure out important questions that could potentially be answered by future collaborative research. We expect that there will be some small group discussion during this time.

12:00 - 12:30 p.m.: Wrap-up and closing remarks from the organizers.
