Summary

An emerging area of interest in cognitive neuroscience, with roots in behavioral economics and emotion, is the study of complex decision-making. The results of a study panel on this area indicates that there were serious experimental gaps that needed to be bridged before behavioral economists and cognitive neuroscientists could collaborate. This collaborative activity, involving researchers at two sites, New York University and Cambridge University, is an attempt to do some of the necessary background research needed to advance studies of emotion and decision making.
